EURASIAN OYSTERCATCHER, TJORNIN POND, REYKJAVIK, ICELAND, 7/5/2024 - NEW SPECIES TO OUR LIFE LIST

   We can ID this bird as a Eurasian Oystercatcher as follows:

• Black head and neck are down to the breast
• Black wings and back with a white wedge extending to the back
• Bill is long and orange
• Legs are pink

   The Eurasian Oystercatcher is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  Our ebird Life List now stands at 1,137.

 

WHOOPER SWANS, TJORNIN POND, REYKJAVIK, iICELAND, 7/5/2024 - NEW SPECIES TO OUR LIFE LIST

   We can ID this swan as a Whooper Swan as follows:

• The only swan found in Iceland
• Overall white with some light gray
• Black legs
• Bill is black at tip with yellow base extending back to eyes

   The Whooper Swan is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  Our ebird Life List now stands at 1,136.

 

GRAYLAG GEESE, TJORNIN POND, REYKJAVIK, ICELAND, 7/6/2024 - NEW SPECIES TO OUR LIFE LIST

   We can ID this as a Graylag Goose as follows:

• Very common goose in Iceland in summer
• Overall grayish/grayish-brown
• Dark patches on flanks
• Large orange/pink bill

   The Graylag Goose is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  Our ebird Life List now stands at 1135.
