VENEZUELAN TROUPIAL, KAYA SCHIEDAM TO KAYA GRONINGEN AREA, KRALENDIJK, BONAIRE, CARIBBEAN NETHERLANDS, 3/20/2024
We can ID this bird as a Venezuelan Troupial as follows:
- Black head, neck and upper breast.
- The rest of the under parts are orange
- Yellowish eye with a blue teardrop of bare skin surrounding it. You can see this best in the second photo.
- Long tail
- Bulky bill
- Black wings with a long white slash on each wing.
- Orange upper back

BARE-EYED PIGEONS, KAYA SCHIEDAM TO KAYA GRONINGEN AREA, KRALENDIJK, BONAIRE, CARIBBEAN NETHERLANDS, 3/20/2024 - NEW SPECIES TO LIFE LIST
We can ID this pigeon as a Bare-eyed Pigeon as follows:
- The eye has an extraordinary bull's-eye appearance and is a great field mark. The dark eye is surrounded by concentric pale and dark eye rings.
- The second good field mark is the broad white patch at the edge of the closed wing. This really contrasts with the darker wings and under parts.
- Pink bill
- Head, neck and under parts are grayish with pinkish blush.
- Pink legs
