CINNAMON-RUMPED SEEDEATER, RANCHITO RD, JALISCO, MEXICO, 12/15/2023 - NEW LIFE SPECIES

   We can ID this bird as follows:
  • Black cap to below eyes
  • White collar
  • Black breast band
  • Cinnamon belly
   The Cinnamon-rumped Seedeater is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  The Life List now stands at 1,098.










 

MALE BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, RANCHITO RD, JALISCO, MEXICO, 12/15/2023 - NEW LIFE BIRD

    We can ID this warbler as a male Black-throated Gray Warblet as follows:

  • Black crown, below eye and throat.
  • White around the chin and above the eye (you can see a little bit of this white in first photo).
  • Whitish underparts with black streaks on the flank.
   The Black-throated Gray Warbler is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  The ebird Life List now stands at 1,097.




YELLOW-WINGED CACIQUE (MEXICAN CACIQUE), RANCHITO RD, JALISCO, MEXICO, 12/15/2023 - NEW LIFE SPECIES

   We can ID this bird as a Yellow-winged Cacique (also known as Mexican Cacique) as follows:

  • Mostly black with contrasting bright yellow large wing patch, undertail coverts and undertail.
  • Ivory colored bill (see second photo).
  • In the second photo you can see its raised crest.
   The Yellow-winged Cacique is endemic to the West coast of Mexico and the northernmost edge of Guatemala.

   The Yellow-winged Cacique is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  Our ebird Life List now stands at 1,096.



RUFOUS-BACKED ROBIN (RUFOUS-BACKED THRUSH), RANCHITO RD, JALISCO, MEXICO, 12/15/2023 - NEW LIFE SPECIES

   We can ID this bird as a Rufous-backed Robin (also known as Rufous-backed Thrush) as follows:
  • Merlin identified this bird as a Rufous-backed Robin.
  • Yellow bill
  • Rufous breast and flanks
  • White throat with black streaks
  • White belly
   The Rufous-backed Robin is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  The ebird Life List now stands at 1,095.
