MALE CANADA WARBLER, PRESQU'ILE PROVINCIAL PARK, BRIGHTON, ONTARIO, 5/22/2023 - NEW LIFE SPECIES

   We can ID this warbler as a male Canada Warbler as follows:
  • Bright yellow underparts with a series of vertical rows of black spots that run that run across the upper breast (necklace)
  • Bright yellow throat
  • As much as we can see of the crown and nape is bluish gray
  • White eyering
  • In the second photo you can just make out the start of a yellow supraloral stripe
    The Canada Warbler breeds in boreal Canada and northeastern U.S. and Appalachian mountains south to Tennessee and Georgia.  It overwinters in northern South America,  

   The Canada Warbler is a new species to our Photographic Life List.  Our ebird Life List now stands at 1,070.
