SUPHUR-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, HOTEL BOUGAINVILLEA, CANTON DE SANTO DOMINGO, HEREDIA PROVINCE, COSTA RICA, 10/2/2022 - NEW SPECIES # 1,037 TO LIFE LIST
We can ID this tyrant flycatcher as a Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher as follows:
- Yellowish belly
- Dark streaks on whitish breasts
- White eyebrow bordered by a black mask above a broad white mustache
- Blackish chin
- Rufous tail
- Brown upperparts with whitish speckles
The Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,037.
YELLOW-GREEN VIREO, HOTEL BOUGAINVILLEA, CANTON DE SANTO DOMINGO, HEREDIA PROVINCE, COSTA RICA, 10/2/2022 - NEW SPECIES # 1,036 TO LIFE LIST
We can ID this bird as a Yellow-green Vireo as follows:
- Yellow on sides of breast and flanks (much more yellow than very similar Red-eyed Vireo)
- Grayish-whitish underparts
- Yellowish on face
- May be a juvenile Yellow-green Vireo as what we can see of the upperparts (some of the wing) is brownish
The Yellow-green Vireo is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1036.
CINNAMON-BELLIED SALTATOR, HOTEL BOUGAINVILLEA, CANTON DE SANTO DOMINGO, HEREDIA PROVINCE, 10/2/2022 - NEW SPECIES # 1,035 TO LIFE LIST
Even though it is not a great photo, we can still ID this tanager as a Cinnamon-bellied Saltator as follows:
- Grayish head, breast and as much as you can see of the upperparts
- You can just make out some of its whitish throat
- Gray tail
- Cinnamon belly (can only see a small section) and undertail coverts
The Cinnamon-bellied Saltator is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,035.
