FEMALE VARIED THRUSH, CYPRESS PROVINCIAL PARK WEST VANCOUVER, 6/11/2022 - PHOTOGRAPHIC LIFE LIST SPECIES # 1,027

   We can ID this bird as a female Varied Thrush as follow
  • Similar in size and shape to American Robin
  • Orange throat and breast with indistinct breast band and spotting
  • Dark head with orange eyebrow
  • Dark wings with two orange wing bars 
  • Dark gray tail
   The Vari4d Thrush is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,027.

MALE ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, CYPRESS PROVINCIAL PARK ROAD-LOOKOUT,WEST VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, 6/11/2022 - PHOTOGRAPHIC LIFE LIST SPECIES # 1,026

   We can ID this hummingbird as a Male Anna's Hummingbird as follows:
  • Black face, forecrown and throat
  • Red gorget (patch of colored feathers on throat and/or upper breast). The gorget is iridescent and can change color depending on the light and viewing angle.
  • Medium length and straight bill
  • Gray breast and green belly
  • Greenish-gray back and dark wings
   Anna's Humingbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,026.
