IMMATURE MALE RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD STARTING TO MOLT INTO 1ST SUMMER PLUMAGE, CRANBERRY MARSH,LYNDE SHORES CONSERVATION AREA,WHITBY,ONTARIO, 5/27/2020
In the photo of the immature Red-winged Blackbird you can see the beginnings of a red patch on its wing. This indicates that it is an immature male. A red/yellowish white patch will eventually form on 1st summer males, although it will not be as distinct as on an adult male.
