COMMON POCHARDS AMONG EURASIAN WIGEONS & EURASIAN COOTS, CIRCEO NATIONAL PARK,SABAUDIA,ITALY, 10/2/2019
In the first photo, the Common Pochard is the uppermost bird with gray flanks and back. In the second photo, the two birds on the upper left with gray/whitish flanks and back are Common Pochards. This last photo was taken at a great distance. The third photo is a blow-up of the second photo.
- The Pochards are about the same size as the Eurasian Wigeons
- Chestnut head
- Black rear end and tail
- Greyish flanks and back
- Dark bill with grayish band across outer part of upper mandible
The Common Pochard is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 958.
