   We can ID this lapwing as a Northern Lapwing as follows:

• Black crown with long wispy crest
• Black and white face with some chestnut tinge
• Rear crown and nape tinged chestnut
• White foreneck
• Iridescent green and purple on dark upperparts
• White underparts, except for black breast
• Straight black bill

   The Northern Lapwing is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 948.

• Small size
• Mostly dark brown plumage with cream markings all over the entire body
• Iris is bright yellow
• Cream eyebrows
• Dark cere (skin above the bill)
• Yellowish-gray bill

• Brown upperparts, heavily streaked with black
• White underparts with rufous flanks
• Prominent whitish eyering and pale supercilium
• Pinkish legs
• Bill has grey upper mandible and pinkish lower mandible
