COMMON BUZZARD, ALONG ROAD FROM TAGUS ESTUARY,LISBON,PORTUGAL, 9/29/2019

   Even though these photos were taken at quite a distance we can still ID this raptor as a Common Buzzard as follows:

• Overall brown with pale markings
• Dark, broad, square-tipped tail
• Short neck
• Merlin bird photo ID app identified this raptor as a Common Buzzard

   The Common Buzzard is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 937.

BLACK-WINGED KITE, ALONG ROAD FROM TAGUS ESTUARY,LISBON,PORTUGAL, 9/29/2019

   We can ID this raptor as a Black-winged Kite as follows:

• White underparts and head
• Grey upperparts and wings
• Face has owl-like appearance
• Black eyeline, shoulders and wing tips
• Orange feet

   The Black-winged Kite is also called the Black-shouldered Kite.  This is a different species than the Black-shouldered Kite of Australia.

   The Black-winged Kite is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 936.
