IBERIAN MAGPIE, ALONG ROAD FROM TAGUS ESTUARY,LISBON,PORTUGAL, 9/29/2019

   We can ID this bird as a Iberian Magpie:
  • Black head
  • Sandy-brown underparts and back
  • White throat
  • Blue wings
  • Long blue tail

   The Iberian Magpie is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 933.




EURASIAN JAY, ALONG ROAD FROM TAGUS ESTUARY,LISBON,PORTUGAL, 9/29/2019

   We can ID this bird as a Eurasian Jay as follows:
  • Thick black mustache
  • Pinkish-grey underparts
  • White vent and undertail coverts
  • Black tail
  • White forehead, lores, eye's area, chin and throat
  • Pinkish legs 

   The Eurasian Jay is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 932.

   We can ID this duck as a female Eurasian Teal as follows:
  • Brownish mottled plumage with darker back and rump
  • Darker brown crown and eye stripe
  • Grey bill
  • Whitish stripe at the rear

   The Eurasian Teal is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 930.

   We can ID this bird as a female European Pied Flycatcher as follows:
  • Brown above with distinctive white wing patch
  • Tail and primaries are darker brown
  • Outer tail feathers are white
  • Whitish underparts
   The European Pied Flycatcher is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 929.






COMMON WAXBILL, TAGUS ESTUARY,LISBON,PORTUGAL, 9/29/2019

   Even though we can't see much of the face or front of this bird, we can ID it as a Common Waxbill as follows:
  • You can just make out the red bill and some of the red mask
  • Overall grey color
  • White neck
  • Merlin bird photo ID app identified the bird as a Common Waxbill

   The Common Waxbill is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 928.
