RUFOUS-BREASTED WREN (PHEUGOPEDIUS RUTILUS), LA MESA RD,EL VALLE DE ANTON,COCLE PROVINCE,PANAMA, 5/24/2019
We can ID this wren as a Rufous-breasted Wren as follows:
- Black throat and face, speckled with white, that contrasts with bright rufous chest, is distinctive
- Grey-brown upperparts
- Brownish-white belly
- Rufous crown
The Rufous-breasted Wren is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 870.

We can ID this bird as a Bright-rumped Attila as follows:
- Olive-green head streaked with black
- Yellowish throat and breast are streaked darker
- Short brown tail
- What we can see of the wings is dark brown
- Belly is yellowish near tail

- Brown head with buff supercilium and conspicuous white malar stripe
- Short wedge-shaped bill with upturned lower mandible
- Rufous tail
- Brownish overall, with no streaks

We can ID this Tanager as a Silver-throated Tanager as follows:
- Yellow underparts and head. Underparts look a bit dirty, typical of this Tanager.
- Silvery throat bordered by black moustachial stripe
- Greenish wing feathers, as much as we can see
