CARIBBEAN ELAENIA, QUEEN ELIZABETH II BOTANIC PARK,GRAND CAYMAN, 2/28/2019
We can ID this Flycatcher as a Caribbean Elaenia as follows:
- Upperparts brownish-olive
- Two whitish wingbars
- Throat and breast pale gray
- Lower belly has yellowish wash
- Pinkish lower mandible of bill
- Whitish crown patch (you can see this in fourth photo)
- Crest raises when agitated (see first photo)
- Common throughout Cayman Islands
- Does not have obvious spectacles as does the similar Yellow-bellied Elaenia
The Caribbean Elaenia is a new species to our Photographic Life List,which now stands at 846.
