OLIVE-BACKED EUPHONIA FEEDING ON ARACEA, PALENQUE MAYAN RUINS, CHIAPAS,MEXICO, 11/9/2018
We can ID this finch as an Olive-backed Euphonia as follows:
- Olive upperparts
- Bluish sides
- Thick, stubby bill
- Reddish belly and vent
Because of the lighting and reflection from the red flowers the colors on this bird can be deceptive. Our Birding Guide did ID this bird as a Olive-backed Euphonia, as did Merlin Bird Photo app.
The Olive-backed Euphonia is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 830.
