GREEN-BREASTED MANGO, BECAN MAYAN RUINS,CAMPECHE,MEXICO, 11/8/2018
We can ID this hummingbird as a Green-breasted Mango as follows:
- Greenish-blue underparts (as much as we can see if it)
- Wing pattern of mostly brownish wing with darker leading edge
- Dark tail - because of lighting the colors did no come out
- We should note that our Birding Guide identified this hummingbird as a Green-breasted Mango and it was identified as a Green-breasted Mango when the first photo was inputted into the Merlin photo ID app.
The Green-breasted Mango is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 829.
IVORY-BILLED WOODCREEPER, BECAN MAYAN RUINS,CAMPECHE,MEXICO, 11/8/2018
We can ID this woodcreeper as a Ivory-billed Woodcreeper as follows:
- Long, stout, pale pinkish (you can see this in first photo), slightly downcurved bill. The pale pinkish bill differentiates this woodcreeper from the similar Cocoa Woodcreeper, which has a darker bill. The stout bill differentiates this woodcreeper from the similar Streak-headed Woodcreeper, which has a slender bill.
- Overall brownish/rufous color with bold, whitish and pale streaks on head, back and underparts
- Whitish throat and eyebrow
The Ivory-billed Woodcreeper is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 828.
MASKED TITYRA, BECAN MAYAN RUINS,CAMPECHE,MEXICO, 11/8/2018
Even though this bird is somewhat obscured by branches, we can ID it as a Masked Tityra as follows:
- Whitish underparts
- Thick red bill with black tip
- Black head with red face mask
- Black tail with white tip
- As much as we can see of the wings are black
The Masked Tityra is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 827.
