COUCH'S KINGBIRD, HOTEL MAYALAND,CHICHEN ITZA,MEXICO, 11/3/2018
We can ID this Tyrant Flycatcher as Couch's Kingbird as follows:
- Couch's Kingbird is almost identical to the Tropical Kingbird. The best way to distinguish them is by their voice. We were able to determine this was Couch's Kingbird by it's call: "pik"
- Gray head
- Greenish back
- Brownish wings and tail
- Pale throat contrasting with darker breast
- Yellow belly.
Couch's Kingbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 807.
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, HOTEL MAYALAND,CHICHEN ITZA,MEXICO, 11/3/2018
We can ID this bird as a Yellow-throated Vireo as follows:
- Unstreaked yellow throat
- Dark wings with two white wingbars
- Thick bill
- Dark tail
- Yellow spectacles - you can just make this out in the second photo
The Yellow-throated Vireo is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 806.
