RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, NONQUON SEWAGE LAGOONS, PORT PERRY, DURHAM REGION, ON, 9/4/18

    We can ID this bird as a Red-breasted Nuthatch by its bluish upperparts, orange belly, distinctive white supercilium, black stripe through eye, black crown and long, straight, pointed bill.
   The Red-breasted Nuthatch breeds in the coniferous forests across Canada, Alaska and northeastern and Western United States.  Though often a permanent resident, it regularly erupts further south if its food supply fails.
   The Red-breasted Nuthatch is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 796.
