OUR BIRDING GUIDES & BUS DRIVER, MUSEUM OF NEW ZEALAND, WELLINGTON, NORTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND

These are photos of our Road Scholar birding guides and our bus driver after we were let off at the Museum of New Zealand or Te Papa Tangarewa.  In the first photo from left to right, is our bus driver (he was also a good birder), Ian, and our birding guides, Marita and Warren Jowett.   The second photo is a closeup of Ian.

NONBREEDING BROWN TEALS, ZEELANDIA SANCTUARY, WELLINGTON, NORTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND

These two ducks were both sleeping, so we could not see their bills.  However, we can still ID this duck as a nonbreeding Brown Teal by its conspicuous white eyering around a dark brown eye, all brown color, dark brown on head and upperparts and lighter brown on breast.
The Brown Teal is endemic to New Zealand and is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 743.
