MACLEAY'S HONEYEATER AT FEEDER, CASSOWARY HOUSE, KURANDA NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

We can ID this bird as a Macleay's Honeyeater by its large orangish patch around eyes, downcurved bill, black cap and upperparts a mixture of brown, grey and rufous with white streaks. 
   Macleay's Honeyeater is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 686.





HORNBILL FRIARBIRD, CASSOWARY HOUSE, KURANDA NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

We can ID this bird as a Hornbill Friarbird by its large size, silver crown, distinctive curved bill, black face, bump at base of bill, blue patch around eyes and brownish and grey-brown upperparts. 
   The Hornbill Friarbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 685.

AUSTRALIAN BRUSH-TURKEY, CASSOWARY HOUSE, KURANDA NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

    We can ID this bird as an Australian Brush-Turkey (also called Bush Turkey or Scrub Turkey) by its resemblance to a domestic turkey, mainly black body plumage, bare red head, yellow throat wattle and laterally flattened tail.
   The Australian Brush-Turkey is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 664.





SOUTHERN CASSOWARY WITH THREE CHICKS, CASSOWARY HOUSE, KURANDA NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this bird as a Southern Cassowary by its very large size, black plumage, blue face and neck, red on the nape and horn-like brown casque sitting atop the head. 
   The Southern Cassowary is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 683. 

















BUSH STONE-CURLEW OR BUSH THICK-KNEE, CAIRNS CEMETERY, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this bird as a Bush Stone-curlew (also called Bush Thick-knee) by its mostly grey-brown above, streaked with black and having a rufous wash; whitish below with black streaks; small black bill; large eye and prominent white eyebrow.  
   The Bush Stone-curlew is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 682.
