LOVO CULTURAL SHOW, WESTIN DENARAU RESORT, NADI, FIJI

   Last evening, Saturday, Oct. 7, we attended the Lovo Cultural Show at the Cocoa Palms pavilion at Westin Denarau Resort.   This show consists of Fiji music and dance, particularly the Meke dance.

FIJI WOODSWALLOW, WESTIN DENARAU RESORT, NADI, FIJI

   We can ID this bird as a Fiji Woodswallow by its dark sooty gray color, white underparts and steel blue bill with black tip.  The Fiji Woodswallow has been split from White-breasted Woodswallow, of which it had been a subspecies.  The Fiji Woodswallow is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 594.



RED-VENTED BULBUL, WESTIN DENARAU RESORT, NADI, FIJI

   We can ID this bird as a Red-vented Bulbul by its short crest giving its black head a squarish appearance, brownish body, black tail with white tip and red undertail coverts.  The Red-vented Bulbul is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 593.




FIJI PARROTFINCH, WESTIN DENARAU RESORT, NADI, FIJI

      We can ID this bird as a Fiji Parrotfinch by its green upperparts,  blue-green underparts, scarlet face and crown and red rump and tail.  The Fiji Parrotfinch is endemic to Fiji and is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 592.





COMMON MYNAS, NADI, FIJI

   We first saw the Common Myna in southern Africa and then we again saw it today in Nadi.  It seems to be the most common bird in Nadi.   The first photo was taken from the taxi taking us from the airport to Westin Denarau Resort.  The other photos were taken at thc Westin Denarau Resort.
