MUTE SWANS BUILDING A NEST, COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK, TORONTO, ON







GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET, COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK, TORONTO, ON

   We can ID this bird as a Golden-Crowned Kinglet  (Regulus satrapa) by its very small size (estimated at 4"), yellow crown surrounded by black, white eyebrows, black stripe through eyes, white underparts and olive-gray upperparts.
   The Golden-crowned Kinglet is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 520.

CANVASBACKS, DUFFERIN ISLANDS PARK/NIAGARA RIVER, NIAGARA FALLS, ON

   The Canvasback in the first photo is a breeding male.  In the second photo a breeding female Canvasback is in the foreground and a breeding male in the background.   The last two photos show breeding male Canvasbacks.





COMMON GOLDENEYES, DUFFERIN ISLANDS PARK/NIAGARA RIVER, NIAGARA FALLS, ON

   In the first photo the male Common Goldeneye is on the right and the female on the left.  In the second photo the male is on the left and the female on the right.  The Common Goldeneye in the third photo is a male.
