MALE PENNANT-WINGED NIGHTJAR, IVORY LODGE, ZIMBABWE

   This photo was taken in the early morning when it was still dark.  We can ID this nightjar as a male Pennant-winged Nightjar by the band across the primaries and a white primary that trails behind the bird.
   The Pennant-winged Nightjar is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 432.




BROWN SNAKE EAGLE, IVORY LODGE, ZIMBABWE

   We can ID this raptor as a Brown Snake Eagle by its overall dark brown color, yellow eyes (you can just make it out in the first photo) and barring on tail.
   The Brown Snake Eagle is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 431.



RACKET-TAILED ROLLER, IVORY LODGE, ZIMBABWE

   We can ID this bird as a Racket-tailed Roller by its racket-shaped tail, brown upperparts and blue underparts.
   The Racket-tailed Roller is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 430.

JUVENILE BATELEUR IN FLIGHT, IVORY LODGE, ZIMBABWE

    We can ID this raptor as a juvenile Bateleur by short tail, dark brown underwing pattern and grayish face.
   The Bateleur is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 429.
