   We can ID these Double-crested Cormorants as juveniles by their necks and chests being so white.



BREEDING RED-NECKED GREBES: ADULT, CHICK & IN NEST, COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK, TORONTO, ON

   In the first photo the adult Red-necked Grebe is on the left and the chick is on the right.  As you can see it looks very different from the adult.  Its head has black and white stripes and it has a short yellow bill.
   The second photo shows an adult in its nest, probably sitting on eggs.  Its mate is shown in the third photo swimming nearby.
