ORANGE-FRONTED PARAKEET, FROM ROOM BALCONY, HOTEL RIU GUANACASTE, GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA

   We can ID this beautiful parrot as an Orange-fronted Parakeet by its orange forehead and blue midcrown.

   The Orange-fronted Parakeet is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 288.

WHITE-FRONTED PARROT, FROM ROOM BALCONY OF HOTEL RIU GUANACASTE, GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA

   We can ID this parrot as a White-fronted Parrot by its white forehead and distinctive red orbital patch.  It is a colorful and beautiful bird.

   The White-fronted Parrot is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 287.

WHITE-WINGED DOVE, HOTEL RIU GUANACASTE AREA, GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA

   We can ID this dove as a White-winged Dove by the white wing stripe, which is very obvious even on the folded wing.

INCA DOVE, HOTEL RIU GUANACASTE AREA, GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA

   We can ID this dove as an Inca Dove by its small size, its scaly pattern above and below and its long tail with white outer edges.  Also in the second photo you can see some of its rufous primaries.

HOWLER MONKEYS, HOTEL RIU GUANACOSTE AREA, GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA

   The Howler Monkeys were very common in the area of the hotel.  We could often hear their howling.
