ANHINGA WITH WINGS SPREAD TO DRY, WAKODAHATCHEE WETLANDS, DELRAY BEACH, FL


BIRDS IN ART AT ART BASEL, MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER, FL 12/4/15

   We went to Art Basel last Friday at the Miami Beach Convention Center.  This is the laargest art show in the U.S.  I decided to combine several of my passions: birds, art and photography.

FEMALE BOAT-TAILED GRACKLES, MARKHAM PARK, WESTON, FL


MONK PARAKEET, MARKHAM PARK, WESTON, FL

   We identified this parakeet as a Monk Parakeet by its gray forehead, neck and breast.  The Monk Parakeet is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 253.





SPOT-BREASTED ORIOLE, MARKHAM PARK, WESTON, FL

      This bird was photographed last Thursday morning (12/3/15).  We identified this bird as a Spot-breasted Oriole as follows:
  • Yellowish-orange color 
  • Black face and black spots on breast
  • Broad white tertial edges
   The Spot-breasted Oriole is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 252.

GLOSSY IBISES IN FLIGHT, GARGIULO TOMATOE FIELD, IMMOKALEE, FL

   These Glossy Ibises were out of view, when all of the sudden a  juvenile Bald Eagle came along, and the ibises and other birds scattered.






LESSER YELLOWLEGS, GARGIULO TOMATOE FIELD, IMMOKALEE

   We identified this sandpiper as a Lesser Yellowlegs due to the length of its bill, which about the same size as the head.
