FULVOUS WHISTLING-DUCK, GARGIULO TOMATOE FIELD, IMMOKALEE, FL
We can identify these ducks as Fulvous Whistling-Ducks as follows:
- Long grey bill
- White band across its tail. This csn be clearly seen in the second photo.
- White stripes on flanks
- Rufous-brown crown; sides of head, neck, chest & belly are a rich rufous-buff color; back is dark brown
The Fulvous Whistling-Duck is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 251.
SNOWY EGRET, CLAM PASS BEACH, NAPLES, FL
In the first photo you can really see the lacy plumes of the breeding plumage of the Snowy Egret. In the second photo you can see the lacy plumes on the nape of the egret and the bright yellow feet or "golden slippers".
