TROPICAL PEWEE, SELVA VERDE LODGE, CHILAMATE, SARAPIQUI, COSTA RICA
The Tropical Pewee is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 183. Chito, our tour guide for the Selva Verde leg of our Costa Rica trip was great at finding and identifying birds and flora and fauna in general.
PURPLISH-BACKED QUAIL-DOVE, MYSTICO HANGING BRIDGES PARK, LA FORTUNA, SAN CARLOS, COSTA RICA
These were difficult photos to take, as the quail-dove was moving fast on the ground in the bush. Our tour guide, Erick, got a good enough look at it to identify it as a Purplish-backed Quail-Dove. In the first photo you can see enough of the face to see black moustachial stripe constrasting strongly with the pale face of this species.
The Purplish-backed Quail-Dove is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 180.
