SOOTY-FACED FINCH, LA PAZ WATERFALL GARDENS, VARA BLANCA, ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA
Just managed to get a photo of the finch as it was moving fast out of range, so the bird is just at the edge of the photo. The Sooty-faced Finch is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 174.
WHITE HAWK, ARENAL PARAISO RESORT, LA FORTUNA, SAN CARLOS, COSTA RICA
This hawk was very far off and is enlarged, so the photo is somewhat fuzzy. Our tour guide, Eric was able to identify it as a White Hawk. This is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 173.

The cicadas are a superfamily of insects. There are about 2,500 species of cicadas. Immature cicadas periodically shed their outer skin or exoskeleton, as canbe secn in the photo.
