We can ID this bird as a Yellow-winged Cacique (also known as Mexican Cacique) as follows:
- Mostly black with contrasting bright yellow large wing patch, undertail coverts and undertail.
- Ivory colored bill (see second photo).
- In the second photo you can see its raised crest.
The Yellow-winged Cacique is endemic to the West coast of Mexico and the northernmost edge of Guatemala.
The Yellow-winged Cacique is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List. Our ebird Life List now stands at 1,096.
