This Lincoln's Sparrow was caught in a mist net, banded and released on May 16, 2015 at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory in Milford, Ontario. The first two photos show the sparrow as it is about to be released by the bander and the last photo shows a Lincoln's Sparrow in a mist net. I am just adding this Lincoln's Sparrow to my ebird Life List because I just found and read the ebird Banding/Ringing Protocol and believe it is allowed to be added.
We can ID this bird as a Lincoln's Sparrow as follows:
- It was identified as a Lincoln's Sparrow by the banders at the bird observatory
- Mixed brown and gray above
- Buffy breast with crisp black streaks
- Face is gray with brown cheeks, broad gray supercillium and brown line through eye
- Narrow buffy/whitish eyering
- Reddish edges to wing and tail feathers
- Brown cap with gray stripe in middle
The Lincoln's Sparrow is a new species to our Photographic Life List. Our ebird Life List now stands at 1,078.
