MOTTLED OWL, HOTEL BOUGAINVILLEA, CANTON DE SANTO DOMINGO, HEREDIA PROVINCE, COSTA RICA, 10/2/2022

   These photos were taken by digiscoping using a cell phone.  We can ID this owl as a Mottled Owl as follows:

• Dark eyes
• No ear tufts
• Face is dark with whitish streaks
• Underparts are whitish/pale buff with dark vertical streaking

   The Mottled Owl is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,038.
