We can ID this hummingbird as a male Coppery-headed Emerald as follows:
- Downcurved bill
- Coppery crown. You can particularly see this in the second and third photos
- Glittering green face. throat and underparts
- White outer tail feathers
The Coppery-headed Emerald, which is endemic to Costa Rica, is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,070.
