MALE BLUE-THROATED GOLDENTAIL, ARENAL OBSERVATORY LODGE, LA FORTUNA, ALAJUELA PROVINCE, COSTA RICA, 10/10/2022 - NEW SPECIES# 1,061 TO LIFE LIST

   Even though the lighting is very poor, we can ID this hummingbird as a male Blue-throated Goldentail as follows:

• Straight, red bill with black tip that is broad at base
• Greenish crown
• Blue-violet face and throat
• Buffy belly
• Because of the poor, light the tail looks mostly greenish, but you can make out some golden hues

   The Blue-throated Goldentail is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,061.
