Even though this is a poor photo, we can ID this tyrant flycatcher as a juvenile Black-capped Flycatcher as follows:
- Full black cap that includes the eyes
- Seen in Costa Rica highlands. It is endemic to Costa Rica and Panama highlands
- Whitish eyering
- Brownish upperparts (juvenile). Because of poor lighting we can just bearly make out one of its wing bars
- Whitish throat
- Pale buffish-cinnamon underpants
The Black-capped Flycatcher is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,047.
