We can ID this cormorant as a Pelagic Cormorant as follows:
- Iridescent dark and black with areas of purplish iridescence.
- Large bright white patch near rump. This only occurs during the summer breeding season and differentiates the Pelagic Cormorant from the Double-crested Cormorant during breeding season.
- Thin, pale bill
The Pelagic Cormorant is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,031.
Great flight sequence. The nesting material was a bonus.
