Hammond's Flycatcher is is a relatively rare bird in Southwest Florida, it a probably a vagrant from the Western U.S or Mexico.
We can ID this Epidonax Tyrant Flycatcher as a Hammond's Flycatcher as follows:
- Whitish eyering that is thicker in back of the eye than in front and flares out in the back (you can see this in the first and second photos).
- Grayish head
- Short and pointed dark bill
- Long primary projection
- Olive-gray underparts
- Slightly notched tail
Hammond's Flycatcher is a new species to our Photographic Life List,which now stands at 981.
