The first two photos show a nonbreeding adult European Shag and last photo shows a juvenile. We can ID these cormorants as European Shags as follows:
- Rounded head
- Thin bill
- Yellow throat patch
- Adult is black with green gloss and juvenile is brownish with grayish throat
- Adult has a dark bill and juvenile has a dull yellow bill
The European Shag is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 969.
