The first two photos show a female Fasciated Antshrike and the last two a male. We can ID these birds as Fasciated Antshrikes as follows:
- Both have red eyes
- Male has fine black-and-white barring
- Female has fine black and buff barring
- Rufous crown on female (can't see crown on male)
- Bill on both is large and hooked
- Both have blue-gray legs
The Fasciated Antshrike is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 889.
