Even though the colors of this hummingbird do not show in these photos, we can ID it as a female Crowned Woodnymph as follows:
- The Merlin photo app did ID this hummingbird as a Crowned Woodnymph
- We were in the range of the Crowned Woodnymph (the Violet-crowned Woodnymph subspecies)
- Fairly long, slightly downcurved bill
- Whitish throat of the female
- White tipped tail of female (see second photo)
The Crowned Woodnymph is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 861.
