Thanks to Peter Sproule for leading us to the location of the owl. We can ID this owl as a Northern Saw-whet Owl as follows:
- Its very small size. It looked about the size of an American Robin, if not slightly smaller. They are one of the smallest owl species in North America.
- Round, oversize head and pale face with brown streaks.
- Yellow eyes with white V between them.
- Does not have ear tufts.
- Pale underparts with brown streaks
- Brown crown with white-spots.
The Northern Saw-whet Owl is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 850.
