We can ID this bird as an Altamira Oriole as follows:
- Single thick white wingbar and white wing spots on black wings (this can be seen in the last photo)
- Orange epaulet - this distinguishes this species from the Hooded Oriole, which has a white epaulet
- Orange underparts
- Black back
- Black lores that connect to the black throat but by a much narrower connection than on the very similar Hooded Oriole
- Long black tail
- Stout and pointed black bill
The Altamira Oriole is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 813.
