We can ID this parrot as a Kea by its large size; mostly olive-green plumage; grey bill having a long, downcurved upper bill; grey eye-ring and dull-blue feathers on its outer wing.
The Kea is the only truly alpine parrot in the world and is endemic to the South Island of New Zealand.
The Kea is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 751.
