In these photos you can see Scarlet Ibises roosting, along with other wading birds on an island in Caroni National Park. There weren't that many ibises roosting on this island; most are roosting at another location in the park, which is off-limits during breeding season.
At this roost we have a mixture of adult Scarlet Ibises and juveniles. The breeding adults are unmistakable with their brilliant scarlet color all over and long, downturned bills. The juveniles are much more subdued as seen in the juvenile in the third photo.
The Scarlet Ibis is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 575.
