This past Saturday we visited Mizell-Johnson State Park in Hollywood, FL, to search for an unusual bird (reported on eBird) for this area-a Brown Booby. We went to the jetty at the northern end of the park and did sight the Brown Booby on channel marker no. 4, which sits at the entrance from the Atlantic Ocean to Port Everglades. We did get some photos of the Brown Booby, but because of the wind, distance and the bird sleeping, they were not good enough to ID the bird.
It was a very windy morning, the surf was very rough and it rained off and on. Here are some photos of the stormy sea. The last photo shows channel marker no. 4. The Brown Booby is on the lower right of the gray back of the channel marker.
