These were difficult photos to take, as the quail-dove was moving fast on the ground in the bush. Our tour guide, Erick, got a good enough look at it to identify it as a Purplish-backed Quail-Dove. In the first photo you can see enough of the face to see black moustachial stripe constrasting strongly with the pale face of this species.
The Purplish-backed Quail-Dove is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 180.
