BIRD PHOTOS OF THE DAY: PORT PERRY, ON

Today Sharon and I went to Port Perry, ON, which is on Lake Scugog.  It started to rain on the way and by the time we got there it was pouring rain.  We had lunch and luckily it stopped raining.  However, it was very windy, which made photography difficult.
The highlight of the afternoon was the sighting of an osprey.  It was flying around and finally found a fish for lunch.  We saw it from the Scugog Causeway (Route 7A).  We managed to photograph it flying and after it had caught the fish and landed.
We sighted and photographed the following birds:

  • Osprey
  • European Starling, both breeding adults and a juvenile
  • American Robin
  • Red-winged Blackbird
